CDV is a waist-up view of a bearded unidentified field grade officer wearing a light-colored double-breasted frock coat posed in a slight left profile. Contrast is not sharp enough to see the rank on his collar.

Contrast is light but the clarity is good.  Paper and mount have light surface dirt.

Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for McPHERSON & OLIVER which research shows was located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Reverse also has a 1 cent tax stamp.
