This photograph shows a young boy in full uniform. Full-standing studio view. The subject wears a uniform complete with kepi, white leather waist belt, cartridge box with white leather sling, and bayonet scabbard. He holds a short two-band cadet rifle with bayonet. Uniform is likely a military school uniform.

Pencil note on front "West Point" is likely a family mistake; He appears too young to be attending the USMA and no Fords are listed as West Point graduates in Cullum's Register.

Mount has had corners slightly trimmed and shows light soiling and edge wear. Photographer's backmark, J.E. Riddle, Poughkeepsie, NY.  Period ink identification and note on back dates the image to September 4th 1866..."Yours Truly A.W. Ford".
