Full standing view of an unidentified lieutenant posed between a balustrade and a cloth covered table where he rests his hand and on which is forage cap rests. The forage cap appears to be of the McDowell pattern and has an infantry hunting horn on the front of the crown with a single digit regimental number at center. The subject wears a dark frockcoat with lieutenant’s shoulder straps and matching dark trousers. At his waist is his sash and sword belt with his Model 1850 Foot Officer’s sword attached as well as a holstered revolver.
Contrast and clarity are okay. Lower mount corners are clipped and the paper has some light scattered spots of foxing.
Reverse is blank. [ad] [ph:L]
