This rare carte-de-visite image features one of the Confederacy’s most famous Generals – George Pickett.  A bust view portrait is shown, with a penciled label across the bottom reading “Pickett”.  The image is mounted to a common card with gilt border patterning. “Genl Pickett” is penciled across the bottom of the mounting card.

The reverse is clean with minute foxing.  A cancelled stamp is dated “AUG 26 1865” and partially obscures an E. & H. T. Anthony photographer back mark.  The condition is good-excellent overall, with crisp edges and corners and only very minor foxing.

A rare and highly-desirable image for the collector of fine Civil War photography.  [cm][ph:L]
