This CDV shows a bust view of a bearded civilian man wearing a dark jacket and necktie. An ink notation below his photograph reads: “Dr. J.S. Lewis / Surgeon C.S.A.”

The image is light in contrast. The mount is in good condition despite there being moderate surface dirt present.

The reverse bears the backmark of “L.I. Prince / Photographer / New Orleans.” Modern collectors’ notes are present. There are remnants of old tape present at the corners and along the sides.

This image comes from the Bill Turner portion of the Ray Richey collection of images.

After doing some research into Dr. J.S. Lewis, we were unable to find a definitive match to the sitter in the photograph. However, maybe you’ll have more luck!
