Full-standing studio view wearing civilian vest and trousers under his military short jacket. Image is clear with very good contrast. Photographer's backmark, Anderson & Turner, New Orleans. Revenue stamp and pencil notes on back.

Barrow enlisted on November 2, 1863 as a Private in the 5th Company Washington Artillery of New Orleans. He was transferred to 13th Louisiana Infantry and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on March 23, 1864 per Special Order 81 from General Johnson. He served in Companies "B" and "G". Captured at Nashville on December 17, 1864 and eventually sent to Johnson's Island. He was released on June 16, 1865.

He is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Baton Rouge, LA.
