A fashionable toque c.1880 from the Texas Civil War Museum collection. The oval hat, draped on a wire frame, is made from warm brown silk velvet. A distinctive 3" wide textured beige trim with rows of small loops decorates the sides of the crown with a twist in the front for accent. A softly-pleated band of velvet wraps and twists around and over the beige ribbon, adding texture and depth to the style. A wide chartreuse silk ribbon creates a looped bow in the front, and a brown feather accents the left side of the crown. The toque is lined with lightweight ivory silk.

Condition: Good. No stains or tears to the exterior of the hat, minimal wear marks in the velvet on the inside of the brim; trimmings are secure and in good condition. The silk lining is shattering.     [cs][ph:L]
