A very appealing girl’s bonnet from the Texas Civil War Museum. The bonnet is styled with a brim of eggplant purple velvet gathered over a wire frame. The crown features multiple rows of honey-colored looped braid made with the loops filled with strands of mink-colored chenille. The front of the crown is accented with a cluster of tan and brown velvet leaves, metallic gold wired stems, chenille stems in shades of tan and brown, cotton bolls, and ecru lace. The bonnet fame is covered in lightweight buckram over a fine wire frame and is lined in plain weave cotton. The original 22" long narrow black silk ribbon ties are still attached.

Overall measurements:  Brim 15" long tip-to-tip, 2½" deep tapering to nothing at the sides.  Crown 8" at nape of neck.

Condition: Good. Some light wear marks on the inside of the brim.   [cs][ph:L]
