A charming little girl’s tomato red silk dress from the Texas Civil War Museum. The dress is styled with a gathered front accented with bretelles gathered over the shoulders, a back closure with eight pearl buttons, a gathered skirt, a small standing collar, sleeves with large puffs ending at the elbow in a ruffle, and close-fitting lower sleeves. The collar, neckline, bretelles, sleeve ruffles, and lower sleeves are accented with ivory lace and three rows of feather stitch embroidery alternating in soft gold and dark red. The same feather stitch embroidery accents the hemline. The dress is entirely hand-sewn. A similar dress may be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum collection, item #2009.300.767
Measurements: Chest = 29", waist = 24", overall length = 30", skirt circumference at hem = 92".
