Dramatic woman’s 1890s hat, covered inside and out with strips of ruched black silk chiffon alternating with rows of black silk velvet ribbon. The crown and brim are accented with black and white ostrich feathers. A 2” diameter jet ornament accents the left front of the brim. An identical ornament accents 20+ loops of silk ribbon at the back. Lined in black silk taffeta. Label: Paris. Desaultel’s, Importers, Springfield, Mass. Overall diameter 15". Crown 15" diameter, 1" deep in front, 2 ½ " deep in back. Brim 5" wide in front, 4" at sides, 3” in back. Condition very good.
