This is a solid example of the Model 1887 Carbine Boot, retaining its full form with all straps.  The rear stitched seam is intact. The boot retains its shape and has the brass plate on the upper front edge.  The surface of the leather shows use and wear with some crazing. The straps are complete.

Designed for the “trapdoor” carbine, this late Indian War boot dates from the final fighting phase against Geronimo’s Apaches and is a fine example that will display very well with an Indian War cavalry collection.  [jet] [ph:L]
