This is a good original example of a British WW1 officer's leather holster intended for use with a .455 caliber revolver like a Webley Mk. VI, a Colt New Service, or a Smith & Wesson.

Constructed of brown leather, the pocket and flap are one piece sewn along the back seam. There is a brass finial mounted on the flap with the closing tab coming up from the underside. Belt loop sewn on back side with small brass wire loop attached. Nose cap remains sewn in place.

This holster is designed to be worn with the standard Sam Browne waist belt. The rear is marked COLE BROS. 1916, and inside the top flap it is named to J.L. COLLINGS.

The leather is soft and pliable with some light surface cracking. All stitching is intact.  [jet] [ph:L]
