Carte de vista of Brett in civilian clothes. Bust view. Image is clear with good contrast. Mount remains in excellent condition. Photographer's backmark, Anderson & Turner, New Orleans. A pencil identification is on the back and a clipped signature from CDV album accompanies the image.
Brett enlisted as a Private on April 9, 1861. He served until an accident occurred on the train on the way to Richmond in June 1861 leaving him with a lame foot. He received a certificate of disability for discharge on September 16, 1861.
