Carte de vista of Converse. Full-standing studio view wearing what appears to be a military vest and trousers with a dark civilian coat. Image is clear with very good contrast. Mount remains in excellent condition. Photographer's backmark, The New Orleans Photographic Co. Period pencil identification on back. A clipped signature from CDV album accompanies the image.

Frank M. Converse enlisted on March 25, 1864 as a Private in the 5th Company of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans. Present until the end of the year when he is listed as "Absent. furloughed by order of General Hood." Paroled at Meridian, MS on May 10, 1865.
