Stereo card has a yellow mount with “Artistic Stereo Gems of Gettysburg Scenery” on one edge and “W.H. Tipton, Gettysburg, PA.” on the other.

Image is of the monument to the 121^st New York Infantry which stands on the northern side of Little Round Top. The monument depicts a soldier standing at the position of “PARADE REST” as described in Casey’s Infantry Tactics.

Mount is good. Clarity and contrast are very light.

Reverse has a faint period pencil inscription of “121^ST NEW YORK INFANTRYMONUMENT LITTLE ROUND TOP.”

The 121st New York was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Colonel Emory Upton, whose bas-relief is on the rear of the monument. It brought 470 men to the field, losing two wounded.

The 121^st New York served with the 6^th Corps of the Army of the Potomac and was engaged in 48 battles and skirmishes losing heavily at Salem’s Church and Spotsylvania. During the war the regiment lost 18 officers and 329 men killed, died of wounds and disease.  [ad][ph:L]
