A York County powder horn with screw tip showing a nice untouched surface, reflecting 150 years or so of use and storage. This shows cream color to the mid-section and dark brown, close to black near the spout, with lighter brown at upper middle and near the base plug. Horn has two narrow incised rings around the bottom, just above the base plug, which has a slight ridge along the bottom, followed by incised lines above, a convex step with two incised lines under a chip-carved band around the top, followed by a shallow concave band, incised line and raised rim around the central dimple with staple. Spout cap is turned with four grooves, three raised ridges, and unscrews easily to reveal the larger spout just above the upper staple. 10-1/2 inches overall. Few minor chips. Minor corrosion to the staples. A very nice example- uncleaned, untouched example of a skilled turner’s work. Please see our photos.   [sr][ph:m]
