Front cover features a story lead—“The Opening of the Spring Campaign” in the territory between the Savannah and James rivers—accompanied by two illustrations, “Before Petersburg—Winter Quarters From the Plantation”, and “Potocaligo Depot, South Carolina”. Interior illustrations include a panoramic scene “Charge of the First Division, Fifth Corps, On the Rebel Breast-Works, February 7, 1865.” Plus a spectacular center-fold —“Home Again!-The Story of A Life In Rebel Prisons”—depicting a returned prisoner telling his tale to folks gathered round the family hearth.
