Offered here is a 7.5” x 6” note book used as sketching pad by an artist. Twenty-nine sketches in total; most in pencil with a few in ink. Sketches of people, flowers, animals, and landscapes. The artist initialed several images “M.D.S.” and signed one “M.D. Seales”. Several are dated to 1861 and some are located to Lewiston, Maine.
Old note pad has marbled cover boards. Spine is solid. Moderate wear and use overall. A fine 1860s sketch book from budding artist! [jet][ph:LD]
