This is the button you’d find on a Confederate infantryman’s jacket. It is of two-piece, low convex construction made in Montgomery, Alabama by Halfmann & Taylor as evidenced by the backmark. The shank of this non-dug button is intact and stable.

Overall, the patina of this button retains much of the gold gilt and has muted over time to an overall mellow gold finish. There is some minor corrosion on the reverse where the two pieces meet. However, this does not detract.  [cla] [ph:L]
