This button is of English manufacture dating to circa 1830s.  Coat size, 22mm.  Albert’s NY10, Tice’s NY100A24. Backmark: “SUPERB IMPERIAL STANDARD*” (inner solid, dotted rings) dm.

While this is a fairly common button and was made in large quantities during the 1830’s, it is of uncommonly high quality with almost 100% gilt, hardly any loss at all, with very crisp details.

Early state seal with eagle over a globe in a lined oval field, with a rope border. Below is the word, “EXCELSIOR.” This style button was very popular in the 1830’s. This particular button is in excellent condition. Shank is present on the back.  [ld][ph:L]
